Plant Growth

Our Work

The Laredo Center for Urban Agriculture and Sustainability organizations thrives on completing multiple projects to help the agriculture in the city of Laredo. We have tackled multiple projects throughout the years and each one has given us an opportunity to grow and improve. The following are just several projects we are heavily involved in to keep Laredo and its people flourishing.

01

Demonstration Farm

The LCUAS organization has focused on creating and providing the people of Laredo with a demonstration farm. The demonstration farm is maintained by volunteers daily and helps organic vegetation flourish. The demonstration farm is a perfect stepping stone for people to witness and experience the growth and harvest of different vegetation. This is a continuous joint effort with the City of Laredo

02

Hybrid Tomato Project

The LCUAS organization is always looking for innovative methods to grow vegetation. The hybrid tomato project has provided positive results allowing for a better understanding of tomato harvesting. This is only the beginning as there are plenty more vegetables that can be studied. This is a collaboration between LCUAS and Texas A&M AgriLife Extension

03

Farmer's Market

The LCUAS organization has been a proud partner with the Laredo Famer's Market for over 3 years. The organization provides freshly grown vegetation available to the public. Many people have provided their support to make this project successful every month. This is a cooperation with Laredo Main Street.

04

LCUAS Pumpkin Patch

The LCUAS organization has created a yearly pumpkin patch event at the Canseco House location. The public is invited to spend time at the public garden and harvest all types of pumpkins. Multiple vendors and performers are invited to help families have an unforgettable experience. One of the partners with this event is the Bachelor's in Organizational Leadership Program at Laredo College.

05

Urban Farming Workshop

The LCUAS organization has setup multiple urban farming workshops throughout the year. The purpose of this workshop is to provide people with knowledge on how to have a sustainable organic food system. The workshops introduce necessary skills such as soil prep, seed starting tips, and harvesting crops.
